H. Rodney Sharp was born on July 30, 1880. On June 6, 1908, he married Isabella Mathieu du Pont, the daughter of Lammot du Pont, Sr., thus becoming the brother-in-law of Pierre S., Henry B., Irénée, and Lammot du Pont, the leading figures in E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company.
